Case StudyBespoke Handrail Scaffolding System for Flat Roofing ProjectLocation: Gillingham
Client: Local Flat Roofing Company
Project Overview:
Fleet Scaffolding was appointed to supply and install access scaffolding for a residential block of flats in Gillingham, Kent, on behalf of a local flat roofing contractor.
Following an initial site meeting, the client requested a perimeter safety solution consisting of double handrails extending approximately 120 metres around all four sides of the building, without any scaffolding making contact with the roof surface.
To achieve this, we commissioned the fabrication of 50 bespoke brackets, which were securely drilled into the building’s walls to support the handrail tubing. To further enhance safety and provide a fully secure working environment, a triple handrail system was installed, ensuring safe access for operatives working on the flat roof.
In addition, we installed an access tower to provide safe entry to the roof area. The tower was fully enclosed using Harris-type fencing to create a protected and controlled access point.
